Originally settled in the 1640s and incorporated in 1644, the town developed from an agricultural community into a prosperous residential suburb following the arrival of the railroad in the mid-1800s. Reading is known for its walkable downtown, strong sense of community, and numerous town events including its annual Fall Street Faire.
