Hanover is a suburban town in Plymouth County, located approximately 20 miles southeast of Boston along the South Shore. The town has a largely residential character with a mix of wooded areas and developed neighborhoods, and it abuts the North River, which historically served as an important shipping route in colonial times. Hanover was incorporated in 1727 and retains some historic architecture from its early agricultural and shipbuilding past.
