Taunton is a historic city in southeastern Massachusetts, located about 35 miles south of Boston along the Taunton River. Known as the "Silver City" for its prominent role in 19th-century silverware manufacturing, Taunton served as a major industrial center and retains much of its historic downtown architecture. The city is the seat of Bristol County and has long been a regional hub for commerce and education in the South Coast region.
