The town sits on the shores of Lake Cochituate, a popular recreation area, and is known as the birthplace of Hornsby Bend and home to the Massachusetts Audubon Society's oldest wildlife sanctuary. Natick has evolved from its colonial mill town roots into a diverse community with a mix of residential neighborhoods, commercial centers including the Natick Mall, and preserved natural areas.
