Hopedale is a small town in Worcester County, about 30 miles southwest of Boston and 15 miles southeast of Worcester. Founded in 1842 as a utopian community by Adin Ballou, the town has a unique history rooted in Christian socialism and communal living, with many original 19th-century buildings still standing in its historic district. Today, Hopedale maintains its close-knit character while serving as a quiet residential community with easy access to both Boston and Worcester.
