New Bedford is a historic coastal city in southeastern Massachusetts on Buzzards Bay, about 50 miles south of Boston. Once the world's leading whaling port in the 19th century, the city retains its maritime character with a working waterfront and the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. Today, New Bedford is one of the top commercial fishing ports in the United States and home to a diverse, multilingual population.
