Chicopee is a mid-sized city in Western Massachusetts along the Connecticut River, located in the Pioneer Valley just north of Springfield. Originally a major manufacturing center known for its bicycles and rubber goods, the city has a strong Polish-American heritage that remains visible in its churches, clubs, and cultural events. Chicopee is home to Westover Air Force Base, which has been a significant presence in the community since World War II.
